![]() ![]() When playing back the footage in my timeline, tons of frames are dropped resulting in jittery, stuttering video playback. Love all the great features, but I've been really disappointed in the performance of FCPX on my computer. Stuttering and dropped frames during playback I bit the bullet and upgraded to Final Cut Pro X last week after staring out with iMovie. I'm kind of dissapointed that my M1 pro cannot handle these files. I've tried moving the library and the footage to my ssd internal disk, or even to another ssd disk. Transcoding to proxy seems to solve the problem, but it's far from ideal and I don't know why fcpx it's choppy if everything is supposed to be rendered. After applying some basic color correction, this time the dot line appears so I rendered the timeline, but the issue persits. Since FCPX didn't ask for optimized that media, I was trying to edit the original media. No multicam, no text overlays, no plugins. I'm editing 4k XAVC 4.2.2 10 bit 25p from Sony FX9 and FX3, but in a 1080p timeline 25p. Then I work a bit on my edit, and when I come back to playback, same problem again. After three or four tries it begins to run smoothly. When the playback finally starts, it's very choppy. Spinning ball - fcpx 10.6.3 - Mac M1pro - Sony FX9 files Hello folks, i'm having a hard time with the spinning ball appearing when I tried to playback the timeline, specially from the very begginning. I'm considering "alternatives" at this point. ![]() I don't want to go off on a rail here but after years of shoddy products and decades of Mac use. Is anyone having the same experience and did you have to move to Adobe Premier? It's beyond me how Apple could sell such a POC video editor when they've been developing this application for well over a decade. As a matter of fact, I currently have a 3 minute clip that is exporting to MP4 and has been for 2 hours - and is only I make any changes to a video clip, FCP want to re-render all the clips. FCP is horribly slow to the point it sometime takes hours to process a minute or two of 4K video from my canon R5. 0.0,0)Īlso connected vie Thunderbolt3 is an AMD Radeon 6800XT in a Razer Core Chroma enclosure.īack to my point. ![]() Checking with the rest of the FCP community to see who's experiencing unacceptable sluggishness with FCP, especially on a loaded iMac Pro.īefore anyone suggested reloading the OS, blah blah, That's been done and the OS has nothing to do with FCP taking hours for should take minutes. ![]()
